How is that garden coming along Vicki, any progress yet?

Today I made some sleeves for the garden netting and was very pleased with the outcome. Have threaded the sleeved netting with wood poles and pegged these into the ground beside each side of the bed and for extra security used the plastic pegs to clip the net onto the rounded hoops. So far so good and hopefully it will mean that the net will no longer get holes in it from dragging on the bricks which is what I used last season to hold the net down with. I have 2 holes in the net to repair then it is all good to go. Already I can see much more give in the net with the wind which kindly whipped up as I was laying the net out.

Two nets down 6 to go.

Hi Kathleen,

The only progress is poo... and lots of it.

With the chooks still roaming and having destroyed what little I planted, I'll wait until they are well and truly in gaol!! But the good thing is the soil will be well fed and turned well by then.

I do have some pumpkins that of course went nuts, it seemed like all they had was the small pumpkins and then with the rain they'd rot almost immediately but some took and quite a few more are looking like they'll grow on before it's too cold. I picked two, they're a type I can't remember, I didn't buy seed it just popped up at Hogarth before we left, but I look like getting a couple of grammas off the other vine... it came up in the compost when turned out too wet but a couple have taken.

So if all else fails I have pumpkin.

Sounds a good plan with the net, isn't it great how we think something will work and then it causes problems... ah hindsight. ;)

Vicki
