Yeah our cows recently had live (or something itchy anyway - they were shaving all their hair off to get to the itchy spots poor things). We fed them sulphur and it seems to have fixed it all up! Another alternative our friends were advising was Derris Powder (marketed as Pestene) its natural powder from a root you rub it into their coat all over. Seeing as we don;t have anywhere to hold em still, we went the sulphur option, which thankfully worked!

Yes, I've heard good things about pestene powder too, and also sulphur mixed in with baby oil or animal fat, rubbed through the hair. I'm not sure if "cattle coat" or "pony coat" does lice, but we use it up here for Buffalo Fly, its a mix of essential oils, and is quite potent. If its only a few cows, you could look at any of the proprietary mixes at the Chemist, and bath the cow(s). Where have they gotten the lice from? Birds? If you knock this infestation on the head, can you stop the reinfection from the source?
Let us know how you get on.

Sulphur is great - I feed it to the goats and alpacas with no problems. Keeps lice and other crawlies away - even helps with ticks. I don't think Pestene can be used on lactating animals that are producing food for human consumption - double check the label. Another option is to add garlic granules to thier feed.
